MEET THE GEOMATICS TECHNOLOGIST
Benjamin Koops, CEO, AScT
I am an alumnus of the Centre of Geographic Sciences in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, where I specialized in Geomatics Engineering Technology. With nearly thirteen years in the geomatics field, I’ve developed a deep understanding and expertise in various aspects of the industry.
During the initial five years of my career, I worked in the private sector, where I gained experience in legal land and boundary surveys, oil and gas projects, and large-scale civil engineering projects. These roles helped sharpen my technical skills and my practical knowledge of the field.
Following my tenure in the private sector, I transitioned to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. As a Senior Geomatics Technologist, I spent another seven years working on significant projects, including the Hwy 29 Re-Alignment for the Site C Hydroelectric Dam in Northern British Columbia.
My career has always been guided by a strong commitment to precision, consistency, and technical excellence, which have been crucial to my success and ongoing contributions to the field of geomatics.
